"The Last of His Tribe" - 1992 Native American true story TV-Movie

A 1992 TV-Movie based on the book “Ishi in Two Worlds” by Theodora Kroeber which relates the experiences of her husband Alfred L. Kroeber who made friends with Ishi, thought to be the last of his Native American people, (the Yahi tribe) as he tries to adjust to a 20th-century society that is foreign to him. “The Spirit of a great warrior can never die.”

In 1800 there were 300,000 Native Americans living in California. By 1900 there were only 20,000 left. It was thought that none remained in the "wild" until 1911 when a Native American man named Ishi was captured. Like "Dances With Wolves," this movie takes you into a world of violence, mystery and survival - the world that was still the Old West, before it became new.

Jon Voight stars as Kroeber and Graham Greene as Ishi. Also with David Ogden Stiers and Anne Archer. It first aired on HBO on March 28, 1992.
