Taiwan declaring independence a 'catalyst' that would lead to 'direct military involvement'
Former defence secretary and ASIO Director-General Dennis Richardson says if the Taiwanese government declared independence it would be a catalyst for China, which would lead to direct military involvement.
“If other third parties sought to substantially change the status quo, that would be another catalyst,” Mr Richardson told Sky News Australia.
