Wang Yi welcomed David Perdue to his new post and expressed hope that he will act as a reliable communicator, a mediator of differences, and a promoter of cooperation between China and the United States, and play a positive role in advancing the sound, steady and sustainable development of bilateral relations.

Wang Yi emphasized that following the economic and trade meeting in Geneva, China has earnestly and strictly implemented the consensus reached by both sides. However, he expressed regret that the United States has recently introduced a series of negative measures based on groundless reasons, infringing upon China's legitimate rights and interests. China firmly opposes such actions.
