What Happens After an Inspection?

Here’s what happens immediately after a home inspection is completed.

So you’re in the middle of the home-buying process and you’ve just had the home you plan on purchasing inspected by a licensed home inspector. What’s next?

The home inspection itself will take one to three hours depending on how big the house is. If everything is perfect, you move on to the next step, but most often, the inspector will compile a list of items to be addressed, even in a brand-new house. Depending on how serious the items are, you can either ask for the seller to repair certain things or ask for a credit for the repairs in the pricing.

The market differs from one state and one area to the next.

In a competitive market like the one we’re in now, we recommend that our home sellers get a pre-inspection done before listing so they know about any major repairs that need to be made beforehand.
