Burning Spear Old Marcus Garvey + dub version

Originaly formed in 1969 as a vocal trio, Burning Spear (Winston Rodney - lead vocals, Delroy Hines - harmony vocals and Rupert Willington - harmony vocals) was originally Rodney's group, named after Jomo Kenyatta, the first Prime Minister and President of an independent Kenya.
Starting working for Sir Clement Dodd they recorded several singles and 2 albuns in 5 years, leading them to more hits as they went recording for Ruby's their third album, Marcus Garvey (1976), which was immediately successful and led to a deal with Island Records in 1976.
In late 1976, Rodney split from both Ruby and group members Willington and Hinds, and from that point on used the name Burning Spear for himself alone.
4 years later Rodney left Island Records, and set up the Burning Spear label.
Known for thier rastafarian beliefs they often uses biblical quotations and references in their lyrics:

..."Finest time,
John the Baptist's head were cut off,
Put it away into a saucer,
Still disciples have oh Lord believe me,
Yes they stoneth him to death,
No one remember old Marcus Garvey.
No one remember old Marcus Garvey..."
