Now when that occurs you may need to replace it with four and a half inch foam. There is a few rules to do that. The next thing I want to check is how thick is the batting and this is polyester batting or the Dacron wrap and in this case it's about half inch to three quarters of an inch thick. You don't ever measure this when you're measuring for your cushion this is a filler material it makes the cushion have a little bit of roundness to it. So it's not like a square block of foam. What you might find in your cushions is this batting is instead of being three quarter inches to an inch thick you might find in your cushions this material is an inch and a quarter or even an inch and a half thick and if that is ever the case when you purchase your replacement couch cushion foam, you want to make sure that you order a batting that’s the same thickness. You could test the batting on your cushion and peel it away you might be able to reuse it. That's always a good idea. The other thing that you want to do when you open your cushion is peel back the Dacron and actually…. let's take this cover down a little bit more because I want to show you another part on here. You want to look… sometimes cushions are designed with a piece of foam just on the inside here to give this impression that you have a very rounded look. You can see that when you
eye ball straight down it, in this case I'm eye balling straight down and the foam is actually very straight right here, so there is not that rounded effect on this cushion, it was not designed to have a very big crown. This rounded effect is called the crown. I do recommend, because so many cushions are built with an engineered crown. You're gonna need to understand how your cushions were made so. If you peel back
the dacron a little bit and look, in this case you're gonna see that it's quite flat, So there is no tricks on this particular cushion in ordering a replacement couch cushion but you need to check those things and you can often send us a picture of what you're seeing and we can guide you through the process. This cushion is definitely not built the same as that, the foam inside might be of a similar thickness so again when you start the process to purchase replacement couch cushion foam, you're gonna want to unzip it. So in this example if I go seam to seam here it's about 5.5 inches but if I look at the foam that was used to fill it
the foam in this case is only 4 only 4 inches thick so it would be a mistake to try to replace this foam with 5.5 inch foam. It's not gonna fit very well. This cushion was not designed for 5.5 inch foam it was designed for a 4 inch foam.
