Trump Announces Travel Ban on Nationals from 12 Countries Over Security Risks

US President Donald Trump issued a proclamation enforcing a travel ban on nationals from 12 countries, citing serious national security concerns. The affected countries include Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. Entry from seven additional countries will face partial restrictions. The ban, effective June 9, 2025, aims to prevent entry of individuals deemed threats to US safety. Visas issued before the deadline remain valid. This marks a renewed move following Trump’s earlier travel bans, which were repealed by President Biden in 2021.
