Reagan's Space Shuttle Challenger Address
On January 28th, 1986, seven Americans lost their lives aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger. Schoolchildren across the nation watched the tragedy as it occurred on live television. America looked to its President to give us guidance. Ronald Reagan, as was custom, did just that.
President Reagan spoke directly to the nation, the families of the lost astronauts, the schoolchildren who witnessed the terrible event, and the team at NASA. In the face of shock and fear, he assured a reeling nation that we would not be discouraged and that we would continue to explore the final frontier.
