Spitfire Flight in 3 minutes inc Photos and 4 cams - 21/08/22.

My first flight in a Spitfire! 37 minutes of pure joy with a victory roll, tour around Leeds Castle, plenty of G manoeuvres, 5 minutes stick time. I surprised my friends and family with a trip in the Airvan to make the day special for everyone and they had a super time too along with their families watching from the café.

We took off around 13:42 in perfect conditions. As the power crept up I was pushed gently into the back of my seat, the super sweet smell of high octane fuel and burning oils gets stronger and what a great feeling of power it is at that point. We met up with the chase plane soon after leaping into the air and what an excellent feeling that is being that close information with another plane, even better when it has your friends and family on it to wave merrily at. As JC lurked either side of the Airvan we then came to break away, my first experience of seeing the ground from the side of the cockpit, what a buzz. After several turns and climbs back we zoom pass the chase plane and roar off into the distance where I was treated to some more manoeuvres pulling light G and then the unbelievable words.. 'you have control' come over my headset. It's been documented a million times before, but she handles so sweetly, a delicate angel with that thoroughbred feeling at all times. I had around 5 minutes of 'never to forget' stick time possibly longer, JC was very happy with my handling of it. Just being strapped into it on the ground you feel the wings as you become part of the Spitfire! After a few more twists and turns over the sights of Kent we return to base I look at London and spend a moment to not only think of 'the few' but those who I would have loved to of shared the day with. Followed up with a Left Base back into R21 at Biggin Hill, JC makes a perfect 3 point landing with a very smooth track. Once we return to the Hangar at around 14:19, I am left speechless, amazed, stunned and overjoyed. After thanking the ground crew and pilot for their excellent work, we have fun with the cameras and the picture of my 'guests' and pilot will be the absolute one to never forget! Thank you all so much for being part of the special day.

EPIC day... correction... BEST day of my life so far. I'm still grinning more than 24 hours later.
