Force exerted by a jet on a stationary vertical plate :
The jet after striking the plate will move along the plate. But the plate is right angles to the jet. Hence the jet after striking will get deflected by 90°. Hence the component of the velocity of the jet, in the direction of the jet, after striking will be zero.
How do you measure the force of the jet?
The force of the water jet is adjusted via the flow rate. Experiments study the influence of flow velocity and amount of flow rate as well as of different deflection angles. The jet forces generated by the water jet are measured on the weight-loaded scale
