I recently donated a couple of kids bikes to A Different Gear (formerly known as ReCycle Bikes) who are based at the top of Thirlwell Road in Heeley, Sheffield, UK. I used a child carrier trailer, folded flat with some bungee cords to carry the two bikes, which were placed upside down so that the handlebars kept them stable.

If you have any adult or kids bicycles that you don’t need anymore please consider donating them to help people in need instead of scrapping them.

Donated bikes are refurbished by the team there and either sold through their secondhand bike shop or donated to local charities such as COMAC, who support refugees and asylum seekers in Sheffield, or Aid4Gambia who export donated bikes to communities in West Africa. Be sure to tell them whether your donation is for a specific charity or for resale.
