Sagrada Familia Barcelona

The Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia is a monumental Church begun on 19 March 1882 from the project of the Diocesan architect Francisco de Paula del Villar (1828-1901). At the end of 1883 Gaudí was the continuation of the works, a task that did not leave until his death in 1926. Since then, several architects have continued the work following the original idea of Gaudí.

The building is located in the centre of Barcelona, and over the years has been transformed into one of the most universal signs of identity of the city and the country. Every year it is visited by millions of people and there are many who also studied the architectural and religious content.

The temple has always been of Atonement; that is to say that, since its inception, for more than 130 years, is built from donations. In this sense, the Gaudí himself said: "the Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia makes the village and there are mirrored. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people ". The construction continues and could be finished during the first third of the 21st century.
