FZJ80 Valve Cover Gasket Replacement - 1FZFE Engine - Toyota Land Cruiser

In this video we show you how to perform the valve cover gasket job on a FZJ80 Toyota Land Cruiser with the 1FZ-FE engine.

**Since the removal of the transmission kick-down is pretty difficult, maybe try removing it after you disconnect the throttle body from the intake air chamber and the same goes for connecting the throttle body back to the intake air chamber - connect the kick-down cable and back coolant hose first and then attach the throttle body to the intake air chamber with the 4 bolts.

**TORQUE VALUES**
*Valve Cover Bolts - the Toyota FSM specifies a 15 ft-lbs or 180 in-lbs torque value. We believe this is too high. 160 in-lbs or 13 ft-lbs seems more than enough. We gradually brought the bolts up to spec in 3 crossing pattern passes - 50 inch pounds, then 100 inch pounds, and finally 150 inch pounds. Then we brought the value up to 160 inch pounds and did a final pass. Since these are a pretty small fastener, we don't recommend going any higher than 160 inch pounds or 13 foot pounds. You could probably even go with a less spec and be fine so use your best judgement and don't over-tighten the bolts and break them off in the head.
