How to Paint a BRICK Fireplace!

I bought my FIRST home and decided to give the firetruck RED brick fireplace a little make over. The brick was a "fake" brick but it was easily painted with exterior paint. I made sure to wash it before starting.

I spray painted the hearth black with some high heat spray paint if you can (I recommend you do this outside as the house smelled and I got a little lightheaded - ha). I also washed it and scuffed it up a bit before spraying it.

I then painted the red/orange tile black and covered them with a bunch of layers of clear polyurethane to protect them from wear and tear! I had a broken brick that I repaired with air hardening clay and although it was not perfect it doesn't look too bad. I might go touch up that up later when I have more time and patience. Ha

It was extremely easy and turned out a lot better than I imagined! What do you think?
