Hyderabad Central University (HCU), officially known as University of Hyderabad (UoH), is a public research university located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Established in 1974, it has since developed into one of the premier institutions in India, particularly known for its research output and academic excellence.

Forests are among the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth. They are home to a vast number of plant and animal species, many of which are still undiscovered. Rainforests, for example, cover just 2% of the Earth's surface but house over half of the planet's species.

From towering trees to tiny microorganisms, forests support an incredible variety of life, forming intricate food webs and contributing to the balance of ecosystems.

Forests are vital in combating climate change. They absorb and store carbon dioxide (CO2), a major greenhouse gas, through the process of photosynthesis. Trees act as carbon sinks, reducing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and helping to mitigate global warming.

This function of forests is crucial as it helps regulate the planet’s climate and air quality.

Forests play an essential role in water cycles. They help in regulating local and global water systems by absorbing and releasing water through transpiration, a process in which plants release water vapor into the atmosphere.

Forests also contribute to maintaining water quality by filtering rainwater, preventing soil erosion, and reducing the risk of floods.
