Go rogue: Accessibility rebels change the world | Barb Westlake | TEDxWest Vancouver

Barb reframes accessibility with one bold truth: if it isn’t safe, it isn’t accessible. Period. With humour, storytelling, and vulnerability, she exposes everyday barriers most people never notice—and invites us to Go Rogue to change them.
Barb Westlake, a wobbly mobility and accessibility Rebel, confides that her constant tripping and falling initiated her crash course in mobility issues. Although she jokingly calls her disease The Wobbles, she was eventually diagnosed with inclusion body myositis (IBM), a rare degenerative muscle disease. She travels and navigates the world with two walking sticks, humour, and a positive attitude. Barb light-heartedly and honestly shares her experiences and encourages her audiences to create more inclusive, barrier-free communities. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
