2018 Jaguar E-Pace | CarGurus Test Drive Review

With the 2018 E-Pace, Jaguar now has two SUVs, to go along with a small set of performance-focused sports cars, sport sedans, and sport wagon. While the larger F-Pace SUV receives a range of engines, from 4-cylinders to 8, the E-Pace employs only a turbocharged 4-cylinder, albeit one with two different power outputs, depending on the vehicle’s trim.

246 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque move the P250-trim E-Paces, while the more performance-oriented P300 trims enjoy the same engine, but dialed up to 296 hp and 295 lb-ft. All trims receive all-wheel drive and a 9-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain returns 21 mpg city, 28 highway, and 24 combined in its lower-powered configuration, while the P300’s return 21/27/23.

Despite its racy styling, the E-Pace has plenty of space inside. The rear seats offer enough leg- and headroom for 6-footers, and the liftgate opens to 24.2 cubic feet of space (which grows to 52.7 cubes when you fold the rear seats).

Jaguar’s tech offerings are impressive—when they work. A 10-inch screen features high-resolution graphics, traffic and satellite map overlays, WiFi, and a re-configurable homescreen. That said, when reviewing the E-Pace, Cliff Atiyeh didn’t enjoy a flawless experience; the stereo refused to function just before he embarked on a 2-hour drive. Additionally, neither Apple CarPlay nor Android Auto are offered on the Jaguar E-Pace.
