Authorities in Kenya have uncovered one of the most bizarre wildlife smuggling cases in recent memory. A 27-year-old Chinese national, Zhang Kequn, was arrested at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi while trying to board a flight to China with over 2,200 live ants hidden in his luggage. The ants were packed in specialized test tubes and tissue paper, part of a growing underground market for exotic insect species. Investigators say Zhang had been in Kenya for two weeks, working with local suppliers, and is linked to a larger ant-trafficking ring previously busted in Kenya.
