U.S. Army Air Mobile Operations in Vietnam (Restored Color 1966)

"The Army Air Mobility Team" focuses on U.S. Army air mobile operations in theory and in practice as they happened in the field during the Vietnam War, with a heavy emphasis on combat footage. Watch 1st Air Cavalry Division Apache attack helicopter gunships and airborne artillery provide vital support for a fierce assault against enemy bunker complexes near Bong Son ,part of Operation Masher, aka Operation Whitewing, in 1966. Includes a wide variety of other offensive ops, including "vertical envelopment" assaults on hilltops with Hueys & Chinooks landing infantry, supported by USAF bombers & helicopter gunships, to establish LZs on high terrain fire bases. You'll also see maintenance and support operations, refueling, and the quick establishment of forward airfields by air mobile engineers. And last, but not least, watch the essential role provided by helicopter medivac units to quickly evacuate the wounded to forward hospitals, thereby saving many lives.
