Train Land! Digital Train Ride | with Thomas the Train Inspired Engine | Windows AP

Welcome to Train Land! This video includes 3 train trips: Green Land, Snow Land and an indoor track for toy engines. One of the trains is a wooden Thomas-inspired tank engine (or Thomas the Train as many kids might say). The video is from a Windows AP called Kids Trains by 3583 bytes - see review below.

Today's train trip features train horns and train bells with several different kinds of train engines and cars to chose from. But watch out that we don't go too fast, as that can lead to a crash.

MINI-REVIEW: Kids Trains by 3583 Bytes is an excellent Windows AP for a 3-4 year old. The controls are simple, yet involved enough that the child can feel they are controlling the train. There's no turning required, just speed adjustment and a stop button. The 'camera control' however, is tougher and could confuse a young child. But the multiple different views help keep the game fresh. I say game, but there are no points or objectives, just train worlds to explore at your own pace. I like that, less things to frustrate a small person. For some reason the game is listed at ages 6 & Up. In my view, a six year old will not be engaged by this very long - a 4 year old will love it.

The graphics are bright and detailed, especially for a free AP. The train circles the elaborate tracks continuously, which is both a positive and a negative - the game doesn't need to be reset, but it also never ends. Even if the train crashes (which inevitably occurs if you select the top speed) the train quickly restarts, requiring no special assistance from an adult. The game runs an unskippable commercial at the start and each time you switch between one of the three background settings. I think I prefer that to in-game pop-ups that have to be dealt with.

All in all, this is a great AP, just make sure you fall in the right age range or your child will lose interest quickly. Well done 3583 Bytes! We will definitely keep an eye out for more from this designer.
