The Beatles - Revolver Outtakes Medley

EMI Studios, Abbey Road, 6 April - 1 June 1966
Medley of really short outtakes recorded during the Revolver sessions. Recording began on 6 April 1966, the first session for Revolver. On that day The Beatles recorded just three takes of Tomorrow Never Knows' rhythm track, under the working title Mark I, along with one of John Lennon's vocal takes. Paperback Writer is most notable for its heavy bass line, played by Paul McCartney on a Rickenbacker in place of his usual Hofner. Its recording caused some headaches for the Abbey Road technicians, who were subject to strict rules about how microphones and amplifiers should be used. On 26 April they recorded takes 3-13 of And Your Bird Can Sing, with take 10 being the best. To this they overdubbed vocals and further instrumentation, and the song was complete.
Recording for Eleanor Rigby began on 28 April 1966. With a score by George Martin, and inspired by the music written by Bernard Herrmann for the Truffaut film Farenheit 451, no Beatles played on the record. Recording for Yellow Submarine began on 26 May 1966 at Abbey Road's studio three. The Beatles spent nearly three hours rehearsing the song, before recording four takes of the basic backing track.
