Americans Plead Guilty in India-Based Tech Support Scam

Two American tech executives just pleaded guilty to spending five years selling India-based tech support scammers the phone infrastructure they used to rob elderly Americans. Max sentence on the charge: three years.

Adam Young, 42, and Harrison Gevirtz, 33, pleaded guilty May 20th, 2026 in Rhode Island federal court to misprision of a felony. According to the Justice Department, from 2017 through April 2022 they kept providing phone numbers, call routing, call tracking, and call-forwarding services to call centers they knew were running tech support fraud against elderly and disabled victims. When pressed, they advised customers on rotating phone numbers and using larger number pools to avoid detection. They also owned and operated a call center in Tunisia where some employees engaged in tech support fraud. Sentencing: June 16, 2026.
