Build Clean Home Assistant Dashboards with YAML Partials and Templates
Messy Lovelace dashboards get hard to maintain fast. In this Home Assistant how-to, I walk through the structure I use for the Bear Stone infrastructure dashboard: a boring dashboard.yaml entrypoint, thin view files, focused partials, and reusable button-card templates.
The key idea is simple: keep the styling consistent in templates, then swap only the entity, name, and icon for each card. In the MariaDB example, two different cards reuse the same template while showing different data, so the dashboard stays clean without copy/pasting a full card design every time.
This format was inspired by the Reddit thread and johnkoht GitHub repo referenced here:

👋 About this channel: My name is Carlo. I've been running Home Assistant for a BUNCH of years. Almost from the very beginning actually. This channel is focused on bringing what I have implemented at my own house to you so that you can bring it to your house. The channel will be a mix of reviews, tutorials, and inspiration. It is a companion to my GitHub site that holds all the code for my Smart Home and my main site where I keep the more in-depth technical writings. I hope you will enjoy the videos and consider subscribing.
Find all the source code for my Smart House (and Device lists) on my Github Page: https://github.com/CCOSTAN/Home-AssistantConfig#devices

These videos are being made with the help of AI. If you are not into it, that's cool, but this is the only sustainable way for a hobbyist to get thier ideas out to the public and give back to the community without completely losing all thier free time. My promise is to keep them short, to the point, and hopefully instructional and inspirational so you can take the ideas, concepts, and YAML and use them in some way in your own Smart Home.
