I Knocked a Hole in the Wall and Found My Neighbour's House - UK Renovation Day 7

Day 7 and I've just knocked a hole in the wall and found my neighbour's plasterboard staring back at me.

Not ideal.

I'm being very careful around this area now because the last thing I need is to put a hole through into next door. That is a conversation I do not want to have.

Here's what's happened. When the neighbours took their chimney down at some point they left a hole in the party wall and never filled it with new brick. So when I knocked my brick out I went straight through to their side. The wall is only brick thick and there was nothing behind it.

The good news is I can repair my side and fill it properly. No damage to their property, just a discovery that needed handling carefully.

This is what you find in a 90 year old UK terraced house when you start opening things up. Someone else's shortcuts become your problem to deal with. Added to the list.
