You no longer need to worry about your Post-Graduation Work Permit getting expired because, according to IRCC’s recent announcement, you can simply apply for a work permit extension from April to keep working in Canada legally. In case you don’t know, the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows international students to acquire Canadian work experience, ultimately helping them secure permanent resident status.

Now Sean Fraser, Canada’s Immigration Minister, has stated that anyone whose Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) is about to expire will be able to go for an Open Work Permit extension from 6 April 2023.

What’s important to note here is that this extension can be availed of by anyone whose PGWP expires in 2023. Plus, it will be available for people who applied for an Open Work Permit extension last year after their PGWP expired in 2022.
