Learning English Podcast for Tuesday September 26, 2023

On today's podcast, Dan Novak and Ashley Thompson host the show while Dan tells listeners what they will hear. First, Greg Stachel has a report about the annular solar eclipse on October 14, telling people what to expect and how they can see the event (But you should never look at the sun without approved eye protection designed for the purpose!); Then, on the Health & Lifestyle Report, Bryan Lynn and Faith Pirlo report on programs around the world that release mosquitos that carry a bacteria which scientists say make them unable to carry viruses like the Dengue fever virus. Scientists say they are not sure how the bacteria stops the Dengue virus but are willing to release the mosquitos. Then Dan and Faith discuss the article a little more, noting that more needs to be done to understand mosquito-borne diseases, and also they define what "one and done" means in English. After that, Jill Robbins and Andrew Smith expand on the video series Let's Learn English. They discuss ways to describe people and explain vocabulary and usage points. Then, Dan and Ashley sign off.
