Not every flight lesson goes according to plan.

Today's lesson started with a surprise during preflight... no fuel in the airplane. After a quick call to the FBO and getting topped off, my CFI and I headed out on a mini cross-country:

✈️ KHEG → KSGJ → KVQQ → KHEG

The biggest lesson came at KVQQ.

I got too focused on ATC communications, was flying into a shorter runway than I'm used to, and ended up carrying the approach too far down the runway. My instructor stepped in and corrected the landing.

Then I made another mistake and dumped the flaps above the airspeed arc after getting the controls back.

Not my finest moment.

But that's why we train.

We regrouped, talked through what happened, came back around, and made a much better landing. Finished the day with a solid full-stop landing back at KHEG and taxied in with a lot more knowledge than I had when I started.

The goal isn't perfection.

The goal is learning, improving, and coming back a little better every flight.

One lesson at a time. One landing at a time.
