11 Naturalistic Photography - Birth of Pictorialism

Britain's Peter Henry Emerson's view that art photographs should be true to nature led to his influential book "Naturalistic Photography." His idea that photographs should mimic the eye led mim and members of the Linked Ring to make soft focus photographs. Pictorialism as it was called became the standard of photographic art from c. 1890-1920. Robert Damachy, Heinrich Kuhn, Frederick Evans and Alvin Langdon Coburn are covered.
