Tawny owl nest hunting
Tawny owls have only just finished raising their chicks when pairs begin to prepare for the following breeding season.

Bonnie & Ozzy
Watch tawny owl pairs Bonnie & Ozzy tour the nest boxes I have put up for nesting owls and kestrels in Ash Wood.

Nest box tour
They begin their search at Ash Hollow, but Athena the kestrel is guarding this favourite spot, so they move on to inspect Three Trees (thankfully Orion the barn owl who normally roosts here is out) and finally the tawny owl pair try Ash Tree for size. This is where this owl pair nested last year so perhaps this one feels most like home?

Luna & Bomber
Meanwhile established tawny owl pair Luna & Bomber tour the boxes at Fotherdale, beginning with Barn Owl Tower and moving on to Sycamore (where Jenny the kestrel's discarded egg is still lying) and on to Elm Stump which is where Gylfie & Dryer nested last year.

Tawny owl sounds
The sounds these tawny owl pairs make as they communicate with one another during their search are so soft compared to when they hoot to call one another from a distance.
