A joik choral performance by Vokal Nord, recorded in the Tromsø Cathedral.

This piece is based on the Sámi joik tradition. It takes the core elements of joik—melodic structure, repetition, and vocal expression—and reworks them into a contemporary choral setting, exploring polyphonic textures. Rather than simply referencing the tradition, the composition functions as a modern adaptation of joik for a vocal ensemble.

Filmed live in Tromsø, north of the Arctic Circle.
