Dolphins do not drink water. They obtain all the water they need from the fish they eat. An alive or newly dead fish have up to 80% of its weight in water so dolphins can obtain a lot of water by eating them swallowing them whole.

In captivity dolphins are forced to eat dead fish witch lose a great part of they water and they are sub alimented in order to motivate them to obey trainers. So to avoid dehydration dolphins are fed with ice or icy gelatin in order to give them the water they need to survive.
