28 killed in Israeli attacks targeting eastern, central Rafah city

Israel started shelling the eastern part of Rafah with heavy artillery fire before finishing up at midnight with massive air strikes on different parts of the city.

These are densely populated residential areas with hundreds of thousands of war-displaced people sheltering there. A building that was hit in eastern Rafah was a home full of displaced Palestinians.

The owner of the residential building and local residents were helping to shelter people forced from their homes in northern Gaza City and from nearby Khan Younis.

Thirteen people have been killed and 10 others injured and are seeking treatment at the Najjar Hospital in Rafah.

The other air attack hit a residential home in al-Janina district in central Rafah – an area that has been repeatedly targeted. A total of 15 people have been killed there.
