Ro-Ro Ferry Meant for People, Not Profits: Phaldesai

Defending the state's Ro-Ro ferry service, Goa's River Navigation Minister Subhash Phal Dessai said the primary objective of the service is to benefit the public and improve transportation, not merely generate revenue.
"Ro-Ro ferry is meant to provide service to the people and not to make revenue. However, despite that, the earnings have been remarkable," the minister said.

Highlighting the financial performance of the service, he noted that Goa's 18 conventional ferry routes together generated around ₹70 lakh annually. In comparison, the Ro-Ro ferry service has already generated more than ₹74 lakh in revenue even before completing its first year of operation.
