When someone says "classic saxophone video game tune", this is the first song that I think of. I haven't delved much into the KH series myself, apart from Chain of Memories, but I know this song holds a lot of memories for many people, so I thought I'd reignite those today :)

While I was doing my "research" for this song's arrangement (which includes finding out composers, scoping out other arrangements, both remixes and official) I found an arrangement of this for Kingdom Hearts 3D, and really enjoyed it! I decided to incorporate a few elements from that version into my arrangement. These elements namely appear in the introduction, and throughout the piece as interludes between the melody sections! I also experimented a bit with arranging using techniques of modal brightness and darkness! There's a section after the bari sax solo over an F# pedal where the song progressively gets darker, just by changing the parent chord scale over the F# pedal. The brightness-darkness theory of music is one that Jacob Collier recently popularized with "negative harmony", but it's something that I've long experienced and dabbled in. Will you notice it? Who knows!

I also have to thank my buddy Nick Smith for the mix on this video! We've been experimenting with having him mix some songs, and this video turned out very well! Let me know if anything particular catches your ear, and I'm sure Nick will hear about it in the comments below ;)
