This Tip Tuesday, we are talking about the different grades of acne, how they are ranked, and what that means for you, your skin, and its revision.

Having acne can be difficult to cope with mentally.
.

We are experts in acne—we understand how acne occurs, where it comes from, and how to treat it—and we are committed to finding the underlying cause for your acne in order to revise it.

🌱Grade One consists of comedones and papules and may be referred to as “congestion.”
.
🌱Grade Two consists of comedones, papules, and some pustules—what some refer to as the “average pimple.”
.
🌱Grade Three consists predominantly of pustules, with some nodules and abscesses.
.
These can be inflamed and very difficult to deal with on your own.
.
🌱Grade Four consists of cysts, nodules, abscesses, and widespread scarring.
.
Cysts are inflamed, painful to the touch, and are usually a sign of infection.
.
You may suffer from one or a combination of types of scarring including ice pick, rolling, boxcar, and keloid—or hypertrophic—scarring.
.
Regardless of the grade of acne or type of impaction(s) you are experiencing with your acne, you do not want to attempt to pick or pop anything.
.
As DMK Practitioners, we do not perform extractions, as we believe the skin is meant to do this on its own. If your skin isn’t doing this on its own, it may be a sign additional strengthening is needed.
