4 Ways to Make HOOKS Sound BETTER

1) Make your choruses LOUDER by adding instruments or make the end of your verses softer by taking out an instrument right before the chorus.

You'll notice a lot of artists do this right before the chorus to make the chorus sound louder by comparison to the verse. It has an added of effect of more of an explosion to not only entertain the listener but also let them know "HEY, THIS IS THE CHORUS BY THE WAY"

2) Pitch - Sing higher or have a louder voice in the chorus than you do in the verse. The contrast makes the chorus stand out WAYYYY MORE.

Here is a great example from my song Could It Be

You'll notice I have a mid level rap voice approach in the verse and then the chorus jumps in and it EXPLODES "COULD IT BE THE WAY I"

This contrast makes the chorus A LOT more entertaining.

3) Pattern or Lyric different - If you change the amount of words you are using from the verse to the chorus, the chorus will stand out more.

For example if you are rapping a lot of words in your verse, then your chorus suddenly half speeds because you are saying half as much and singing your lyrics instead... suddenly the chorus pops out more because it is much different than what the verse was.

A great example of this would be my song Don't Knock My Hustle
I go from rapping to a more simplified laid back vocal that is a different pattern and is clearly the chorus.

4) Post Malone rock star actually cuts the entire beat out right as the hook jumps in to add more attention it coming in.
