Expert witnesses are dangerous. Any lawyer who ventures to cross examine an expert better be ready to confront someone who, in a seconds time, can challenge the cross examiner with data, studies, science or scientific sounding phrases and jargon. In the give and take battle with an expert witness, the lawyer needs to recognize that in every exchange, the jury is evaluating the lawyer and the expert -- does the lawyer know the science or is the expert teaching the lawyer. The Killer Cross Examination Method and Approach is designed to never let the latter happen.

In this video, I share with you my approach to cross examining expert witnesses effectively. The lawyer needs control, never let the witness take off, add qualifiers and establish the pace of the questioning. The lawyer needs to be prepared to challenge the witness when and if he attempts to take control of the exchange. Even more importantly, the lawyer needs to know the science - a lawyer who just wants to get up and "talk" with the expert is asking for trouble.
