At CES-2022 in Las Vegas, GM has unveiled the electric Chevrolet Silverado EV pickup. The novelty is intended to compete with the Ford F-150 Lightning.
We should point out right away that the new Silverado EV has nothing in common with a conventional Silverado. In fact, the novelty represents a modified and simplified pickup GMC Hummer EV, serial production of which was launched at the end of the last year. These electric cars share the same Ultium platform and a unified body with a two-row Crew Cab.
The Chevrolet Silverado EV also features a roomy eTrunk front rack with a low sill and a 1.8-meter cargo platform. A convertible bulkhead between the passenger compartment and the cargo area can be ordered for long-haul transport. It allows you to lower the rear window, open the manhole behind the backrest of the rear sofa or completely fold out the whole partition (with the glass retracted into it). In the last case, the length of cargo area will make 2,7 m.
Carrying capacity of the new truck is only 590 kg, but the allowed mass of towed trailer is 4.5 tons, and later there will be Max Tow package, which will give the opportunity to tow trailers with 9 tons weight.
