RC Car FPV Adventure: Long-Range Driving with DJI O3 FPV

Join us on an exciting FPV adventure with the Losi Lasernut! This 1/10-scale 4WD RC car is capable of handling all types of terrain, and the DJI O3 FPV system provides an immersive first-person view of the action.
In this video, we take the Lasernut on a long-range drive, exploring forests, fields, and even a steep hill climb. The footage is smooth and stable, thanks to the DJI O3's Rocksteady technology.

Today, we'll start our exploration with the capable and robust Losi Lasernut, a 1/10 scale 4WD RC car designed to conquer all types of terrains. The journey is enhanced by the immersive visuals offered by DJI O3 FPV system, setting the standard for first-person view driving experiences.

The Losi Lasernut, a versatile 1/10-scale 4WD RC car, has been chosen for its capability to handle varied terrains. It's fitted with a robust brushless motor and water-resistant electronics. The model has significant online popularity with numerous FPV videos, and after our comprehensive test, we vouch for its performance and fun quotient.

In this maiden venture, I created a pod to contain all the necessary components for FPV driving. This includes FPV electronics and a flight controller. The speed and GPS overlays on the OSD are provided by the INAV Rover software, And finally, I was able to use the TBS crossfire on an rc car respectively, allowing real-time tracking of the RC Car's performance and location. The Losi Lasernut demonstrated impressive capabilities across different terrains. One of the highlights was a steep hill climb at around the 7:00 minute mark, which was an exhilarating experience.

If you're wondering about the image stability on the FPV Google, it's not as consistent. However, the DJI O3 has done a remarkable job with rocksteady to smooth the footage. It's less bumpier than previous RC car projects due to the superior suspension of the Losi Lasernut. After some camera soft mounting, the image quality improved significantly. I'm also considering gimble options for better stability, so stay tuned for more updates.

We were mostly able to maintain 50mbps in the DJI FPV System on the ground. However, the bitrate did decrease rapidly when the RC car was too far away or obstructed by numerous trees. Despite these occasional drops, the overall results were quite satisfying. We managed to cover a substantial range, which is commendable, especially given that our starting point wasn't ideally positioned.

We had a few driving hiccups - a rollover and getting stuck, which added a bit of fun to our first outdoor trial.

Sorry for the recent hiatus in content upload. Work commitments kept me busy, but I'm back with this project that has been on my radar for a while. The promising results from the Losi Lasernut mean there's more exciting content on the horizon, including a long-range mountain ascent. Stay tuned!
