After 8 months of rumors, speculation, hype, and theories it's officially, official that LaMelo Ball has signed with Puma. To my subscribers and viewers, this isn't news to us, we know that the move has been in the works all 2020, shams said it was officially happening in august, today puma and lamelo revealed it has officially happened. See there's a difference, Melo becomes the first ball brother to sign an endorse out with the family brand BBB and was unveiled on IG as the newest ambassador of PUMA BASKETBALL. Both parties de the big announcement over on Instagram. LaMelo captioned the following video, time to join the puma world,
Shortly after with the same hashtag, tagging the NBA that Melo is coming for them. Puma Hoops dropped this post too,
Remember a few weeks when LaMelo was in Boston, people thought he was interviewing with this Celtics until Jonathan Givony clarified he'd flown out for a meeting puma, well today, we're seeing the news and content of that meeting materialize.
Now the video announcement was pretty standard, everyone focussed on whether or not that shot was fake, you guys can decide down bellow comments but what caught my attention is the not from here hashtag that both accounts used in their announcement, which I can confirm is the new slogan for Melo's puma line. Now Not from here could be interpreted as like outta this world, but at the same time in basketball terms, not from here could mean like why u pulling up from here. Cause in both videos, Lamelo can be sitting his shots from way out, and taking shots that he shouldn't really be taking has been a tendency of the youngest brother since forever. It's what made him famous in the first place back in chino hills, in an article I'm about to dissect and get up into, it was revealed that LaMelo came up with the slogan himself, to represent his one of one attitude.
Which takes us to the Nick DePaula interview with LaMelo, DePaula of ESPN specializes in NBA shoes and brand interviews, so it was no surprise to see him sit down with lamelo and spill the juice. When asked about why he chose to join Puma, Lamelo made the following quotes via email
“I personally chose a different path to achieve my success because that defines who I am. I know some people think I am mysterious or ‘not from here,’ and I might have to agree. I am someone who likes to be different & consider myself to be 1 of 1.”

What Lamelo is getting at here is the sudden resurgence of Puma in the world of sports, prior to 2018 the brand had been an afterthought for decades, until they burst back onto the scene capturing several of the top prospects in the 2018 NBA Draft. Since then Puma has been targetting young players, attempting to capture the next generation of stars. Puma since has constructed a roster of notable NBA athletes such as breakout bubble star Michael porter jr, now NBA champion kyle Kuzma, former #1 overall Deandre Ayton, and of course their latest high profile addition LaMelo Ball.
Who continued to say quote
"Puma was a good fit because they tie basketball, music, and fashion so well together and will allow me to really bring my creative vision to life," I don't want to give too much away, but big things are coming. It's been fun working with the Puma Hoops design team and I'll just leave it at that."
What I took from that is that LaMelo is with the culture beyond just basketball, he loves hip hop, he loves drip, and is invested in all of that. He wants to build a line of clothing that people wear in everyday life, that's considered cool both on and off the court. As for released apparel, Puma will be releasing a LaMelo hoodie and third on the night of November 18th, 2020, which just so happens to be the night of the 2020 NBA draft.
As for his signature shoe, Lamelo hinted that was in the works providing complex a standard cryptic response
"I guess you’ll have to wait and see."
