✨ Ingredients for pesarattu
Green moong dal (whole moong with husk) - 1 1/2 cups
Rice - 1 cup
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Chopped onions - for topping
Oil or ghee - as needed
Water - for soaking and grinding
Green chilies - 2-3 (or adjust to spice level)
Ginger - 1 inch piece
Pesarattu Preparation:
1️⃣ Soak 1 1/2 cup Green Moong dal (Pesalu) & 1 cup Rice (6hrs) → Grind with ginger + Cumin seeds+ salt
2️⃣ Spread dosa batter thin on hot tawa
3️⃣ Top with Onions + Mirchi if needed+ Coriander → drizzle oil
4️⃣ Cook crispy → fold & serve hot
✨Ingredients for onion chutney:
Onions - 3 large, chopped
Dried red chilies - 4-7 (adjust to taste)
Garlic cloves - 2-3
Tamarind - a small piece
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt - to taste
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal (split black gram) - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - a few
Onion Chutney Preparation:
1️⃣ Sauté: Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onions, dried red chilies, garlic, and tamarind and cook on medium heat until the onions are soft and translucent.
2️⃣ Grind: Let the mixture cool. Grind with salt and a little water into a smooth paste.
3️⃣ Tempering: Heat a little oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, and when they splutter, add urad dal and fry till golden. Add curry leaves last.
4️⃣ Mix: Pour this tempering over the chutney and mix well.
Serve: Serve fresh with your favorite South Indian breakfast like pesarattu.
