Virtual SGL with Adm. William H. McRaven, USN (ret.) - June 23, 2020

The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) presented the university's next, live Virtual SECNAV Guest Lecture (V-SGL) with retired Adm. William H. McRaven on Tuesday, June 23, 2020.

McRaven offers a presentation on “Leadership from the Battlefield to the Boardroom” before fielding several questions from NPS students, submitted by viewers across the nation/world.

Adm. William H. McRaven commanded special operations forces at every level, including as ninth Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command. His forces captured Saddam Hussein and rescued Richard Phillips, Captain of the Maersk Alabama. McRaven developed and oversaw Operation Neptune Spear that led to the death of Osama bin Laden on May 2, 2011. Adm. McRaven was the Chancellor of the University of Texas System from 2015-2018. He is a 1993 graduate of NPS where he helped establish and was the first graduate from the Special Operations/Low Intensity Conflict curriculum, now known as Defense Analysis.
