Trucking Industry Secrets: Why Are Wages Mismatched?

Is the trucking industry headed for a crisis?

Dwight Young, President of Operations at Homeland Logistics, highlights a significant age gap in the trucking industry, with a large portion of drivers over 45 years old, indicating a lack of younger drivers entering the field.

He points out that despite the freight industry's $940 billion revenue in 2022, with a large portion allocated to driver wages, the math doesn't add up when compared to the average driver salary of $75K, which, after taxes, leaves much less. This discrepancy raises concerns about the industry's sustainability and the financial viability of drivers.
