What is a Running Pace Calculator?

A running pace calculator helps you to discover the pace at which you are running. Your pace is how long it takes you to run a fixed distance, which can be a single mile, 5K, 10K, a ½ marathon, or a full marathon. Pace calculation is essential in Coach Rickerman's proven 5 Speed Running Method of running training.

To use the calculator, all that is necessary is to input the fixed distance, and the time it took to run that distance down to the second. Then, simply click the Calculate My Paces button to activate the running pace calculator. The pace calculations predict the running times you will achieve in races of various distances at your current pace.

How the Calculator Helps You

The free Pace to Race Calculator provided at the 5 Speed Running Method website is much more than a standard running pace calc, and this is why it is able to help you develop a faster, more comfortable running speed. This calculator is also a custom workout generator.

The workout generator used in conjunction with the calculator provides easy-to-read charts for speed training workouts of three different types: speed reps, long distance speed, and long distance speed reps.

Speed Reps

The workouts for speed reps are provided for three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. They are also provided for distances of 150, 200, 250, and 300 meters. These workouts are designed to get you up to your ideal pace by running short distance repetitions at 7/8 speed to full speed.

Long Distance Speed

This workout is for a continuous run of 15 to 25 minutes in length at a fixed pace. Once you can hit the pace, the goal in this workout is not to run faster but to hit the same pace without having to put as much effort into the run.

Long Distance Reps

Long distance reps are again at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, but the distances in the reps are greater than in the general speed reps, and hard rep times are provided.
