Rest in peace beautiful Shrek ❤

On Monday, the 6th of May, something much unexpected happened. I was sitting at home and studying for a chemistry test and I look up to see what someone had replied to me on Facebook. And there is an article saying Shrek has been put down. Before any of you out there laugh at his name, let me just tell you this. I never walked with this horse; I never petted him; I barely ever came close to him. And this horse captured my heart on the track. He was a true champion and I can't believe he's gone. Such a big, beautiful and strong horse with such a power in his steps, you could hear him from miles away. There was always something about him. The first time I saw him at the track, I thought his name was funny but creative. I then watched him run and I was super impressed with what I had seen. From that moment on, whenever there was a race with him in it, I would yell and cheer all I could for this horse. He only grew bigger and stronger for every race he entered and I only loved him more.
Yes I cried when I saw he was gone. Some people don't understand how much you can fall for an animal without even meeting it personally. The closest I ever came to this horse was when I took pictures of him at the track and in the paddock before the races.
So I decided I would make a video dedicated to this beautiful horse. His last race was on the 27th of April and he was euthanized due to a tendon injury. He had a record of 20 starts; 8 wins, 4 2nd places and 1 3rd place. I saw nearly every one of his starts.

This video really means a lot to me since the horse did too. He was basically what I would call the definition of the perfect horse. He had heart enough to win in his last race, even with an injury that occurred during the race itself. He will be dearly missed at the track.
Rest in peace big beautiful guy. I will miss the excitement you brought to the races and the amount of screaming I could do when I saw you were leading ❤

My thoughts are with the owner and trainer of Shrek who lost a very special and dear horse.
