Rocket’s roast of Taserface in Guardians Vol. 2 is comedy gold. The scene works because Rocket’s tied up and surrounded by mutinous Ravagers, but he can’t help himself—he’s gotta make fun of the name. Bradley Cooper’s voice work here is perfect, with Rocket imagining Taserface waking up every morning and thinking his name is intimidating. When the other Ravagers start laughing too, Taserface loses all authority. James Gunn said the name came from his son, and he kept it because it sounded ridiculous on purpose. Chris Sullivan plays Taserface completely straight, which makes the joke land even harder. The whole exchange is a masterclass in undercutting a villain without them doing anything. Rocket proves you don’t need superpowers to destroy someone—just point out they named themselves after a household appliance.
