Adjusting the Valves on the John Deere 2510, Exhaust Valve Won't Stay

Working on the John Deere 2510, I want to check the valve lash again, and in order to do that we need to get the hood off. Can we do that with the cab on? Found the #3 exhaust valve was way out of adjustment again for some reason, not sure what we can do about that yet.
