Why Not Butterflies? – Almost Fearless | A Fantasy Folk Song About a Legendary Hero

Tonight the bards of Ethernia sing a tale of a hero who truly fears nothing… almost.

Dragons? Fallen.
Demons? Defeated.
Impossible quests? Completed.

And when the world expects courage the most, something small, crawling, and very familiar appears.
Why is it always spiders?
Why not butterflies?

Thanks for the idea to @claudiafinger7700 :
"I don't know if you've ever had this idea before, but how about a hero who isn't afraid of anything, no monsters 🧟‍♂️, no orcs🧌, no werewolves 🐺 or vampires 🧛‍♂️, not even the most evil fireball throwing wizards 🧙‍♂️ – but why are there always... spiders? Spiders! You know!? 🕷😱🕷 (I mean Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess... there are giant spiders everywhere, it can't be a coincidence...) 😂"

🎶🎶🎶
He stood alone where armies clashed,
While steel and fire around him crashed,
He saved the towns from dragon fire,
And drove the orcs back, broken, tired.
No step held back, no shaking hand.

He fears no blade, he fears no flame,
No curse, no beast, no demon’s name,
He faced the dark and never ran—
But gods have mercy… SPIDERS, RUN!!!

He walked the cave where sunlight died,
To save the lost who hid inside,
A beast rose tall with countless eyes,
Its teeth like swords of monstrous size.
He did not flinch, he did not fall,
He struck it down, he won it all.
The people lived, the monster’s done—
Then on his shoulder… a tiny one.

He fears no blade, he fears no flame,
No curse, no beast, no demon’s name,
He faced the dark and never ran—
But gods have mercy… SPIDERS, RUN!!!

Through demon gates he bravely went,
To break the crystal, end its threat,
Through firestorms and demon cries,
A hundred foes of size and kind.
The crystal broke, no time to stay—
Then from the flames it leapt his way:
A spider made of fire and sin…
Why spiders here? Even in?!
He ran in terror, pure and blind—
And made the gate just in time.

He fears no blade, he fears no flame,
No curse, no beast, no demon’s name,
He faced the dark and never ran—
But gods have mercy… SPIDERS, RUN!!!

Call his name when darkness grows,
When war arrives, when chaos flows,
He’ll crush your foes, he’ll clear the quest,
No trial too hard, he’s truly blessed—
But if your village wakes one night
To giant spiders in the light…

Just don’t call him,
Call someone else.

He fears no blade, he fears no flame,
No curse, no beast, no demon’s name,
He faced the dark and never ran—
But gods have mercy… SPIDERS, RUN!!!
