Chicago Cubs on Catalina Island
In 2003, the Catalina Island Museum hosted a reunion of baseball players that played for the Chicago Cubs and attended spring training on the island during their time with the team.
With the help of author Jim Vitti ("Cubs on Catalina" book), the museum created this video recapping some of the stories and fun from that reunion and general history of the Cubs traveling to the island for spring training. The clips include a look at Avalon's Wrigley Field, memories from players Ed "Lefty" Carnett, Paul Schramka and Bob Rush, islander memories of the Cubs being on the island by Marcelino Saucedo and Lolo Saldana, historic photos and more!
