Grizdale Forest :: Green Laning in the Lake District.

This video shows green lane driving through Grizdale Forest on a pretty fine September day, in a Suzuki Jimny..

A Facebook friend of mine, Adam Squires, asked me if I'd like to spend a day green lining in the Lake District - I jumped at the opportunity. Adam had put together an awesome route of about 40 miles, mainly comprising of green lanes. We were joined by Liam Greenwood who was driving the Landrover, and Chris Atkin who accompanied Adam. Chris is in the process of purchasing an off road vehicle.

Adam drives a Suzuki Vitara, which he is in the process of converting. He has a suspension lift and off road tyres, but unfortunately the four wheel drive capabilities of the vehicle had malfunctioned which meant that he was only able to drive in two wheel drive - he is at a big disadvantage as Grizdale is a gnarly lane with lots of interesting but technical aspects.

Liam leads in his Land Rover for this one just in case Adam get's stuck. Indeed, it is interesting to see the Vitara's capability without the 4x4 capability. I'm pleased to say that Adam coped very well and didn't require winching or towing.
